Prices are based on you bringing your own bed linen: 2 x single flat sheets and a pillow case*.

* Bring your own bed linen to go between our bulky quilt, pillow and mattress.  The idea is to minimise laundry by using your own sheets or sleeping bag.  Alternatively, you may hire our sheet sack at £3 per stay.  All beds must have a some sort of linen.

  • This hostel never shuts and can be open every night of the year, by arrangement to groups, pairs or individuals sharing.
  • A two night minimum stay is preferred.
  • All bed bookings are pre-paid.
  • Weekend pre-booking is essential all year round! Midweek advanced notice is advisable.
  • Office Hours: Please ring to discuss your needs from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week (We will return all calls, please be patient as it is a one-woman band!).
  • Reception Arrivals:
    • Travelling Far? Please aim to arrive by 8pm on your first night to check-in. Secure access after that! Human reception, meet and greet service before 8pm! Reception opening hours: 8am-10am and 5pm-8pm.  
    • Please provide advance notice of your intended arrival time and ring at least an hour away.
    • On arrival, please ring the yellow door bell or telephone 01678 521 700.
    • Late arrivals, please make sure you have communicated beforehand to receive arrival access instructions.
  • On Departure Day:
    • Please place your hired sheet-sack in the basket by 9am.
    • Please advise the proprietor of any mishaps before you depart.
    • All rooms are checked on departure, any damage or extra cleaning is chargeable.
    • Vacate your bedroom by 10am.
    • Depart the ground floor by 11am, feel free to use Dining Area until you leave.

Terms & Conditions
  • Any part of the details contained within this website form information comprising the Terms and Conditions of staying at Bala-Backpackers.
  • Fees:
    • A small one night's stay Supplement Fee may apply at proprietor's discretion, in the circumstance of some hostel bookings. Two nights minimum stay is preferred at weekends.
    • There is a 5% service charge per transaction on all credit card payments. This is imposed on traders by the credit card processing companies. There is no service charge for payments made by debit card; that is those cards which take money directly out of your current account.
    • There is a £10 charge per transaction applied by WorldPay for reversing transactions.
  • Cancellations:
    • Cancellations may only be made by telephoning the proprietor, between 8am and 8pm.
    • If cancellations occur less than two weeks before arrival, the whole amount is payable, due to potential lost trade opportunities. Regular holiday insurance is recommended.
    • Cancellations before two weeks before of arrival, will be offered accommodation on another date, within 3 months, subject to availability.
    • Parties of 4 or more people should give a month's notice of cancellation. The proprietor's discretion is dependent on circumstance, size of party, period booked and administration charges for lost trade.
  • All damages must be reported to Reception on the same day and paid for if it is your fault.
  • Charges can be incurred for lost keys, extra cleaning, damage and unacceptable behaviour. 
  • Clients are responsible for their own well-being and that of those around them.
  • Secure access is available for paying guests only.
  • Hostel Etiquette must be abided.
Hostel Etiquette

ARRIVAL: Please arrive at an acceptable time.

SHOWERS: Bring your own towel and soap.  Use shower hoses with care.

KITCHEN:  Use the kitchen equipment with care and wash up after each meal.  Store your food in the fridge that are switched-on and in the pigeon holes, not upstairs in the bed rooms!

RECYCLING:  Separate your waste into glass, metal, paper, plastic and food.

DINING AREA:  Games, books and a telly to make yourselves at home.  Please wipe the tables after use.

BOOT ROOM:  Wet and muddy things can drip dry over night by warm air.

Wifi:  Is provided for legal use only; It is not for music, movies, gaming, gambling, pornography or excessive gigabyte demand.

CAR PARK:  Unload by the hostel flower bench, then move your vehicle away to behind the Co-Op Pay & Display, which is free overnight in the WHITE stripes.  Read sign for times. There is no street parking.

KEYS:  Secure access is provided to paying guests only.  Return all keys. Only paying guests have access – No visitors!

CURFEW:  Quiet upstairs overnight from 10pm to 8am, respect others sleeping. This establishment is not a night-club! Chat in the area downstairs, as people are paying to sleep upstairs.

MANNERS

  • Advise the proprietor of any:  Lost keys, extra cleaning required, damage how-so-ever caused and any behavioural issues.
  • Act carefully and responsibly.
  • Smoke outside, including e-cigarettes.  Use the ash tins provided.
  • Eat and drink downstairs – No food or drink upstairs.
