ABOUT BALA-BACKPACKERS
Bala-Backpackers has been trading since 2004. The house stands firm at over 200 years old, with two-foot-thick stone walls. Formerly, it was a Theological College from around 1830 to 1865, created by the famous Thomas Charles, who's statue looks on at the hostel doorstep. Thomas was so moved by a young woman named Mary Jones, who in the year of 1800, trekked 26 miles barefoot to Bala for a Bible, that he founded the British and Foreign Bible Society, which still prints Bibles in different languages today.
✝ | Bala-Backpackers Hostel has a Christian ethos and disallows smoking (including vaping), pets, drugs, excess alcohol and anti-social behaviours, but welcomes considerate folk to enjoy a self-catering holiday on a communal basis. |
Plan your activities or just soak up the atmosphere in Bala’s High Street, only 100 metres away. Lake, river and hills are just a 5 minute walk away. A wealth of historic culture also awaits exploration, so why not try the Town Trail? North Wales Gwynedd_EN.pdf (gov.wales)
